Darkside

Vis is a young and dynamic Start-Up, characterized by a strong capacity of introduction in scientific environments thanks to Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (partner of the firm) and by the particular scientific training of the company nucleus composed of scientists, researchers and communication experts. Its strength lies in the production capacity of high quality multimedia products for scientific dissemination.
Vis and its partners are able to realize internally the audiovisual production with a technological structure of the highest level maintaining a low economic profile compared to productions with the same characteristics that need to use third party structures for production and post-production.

Thanks to this capacity, it is possible to produce documentary films with high quality scientific content and storytelling suitable for a wide audience, while maintaining low production costs.

Darkside is a scientific project that deals with one of the most sensitive topics that moves the community of physicists around the world since the ’50s. Finally this experiment will bring humanity to a decisive turning point in the understanding of the rules of physics that make up the Cosmos and therefore everything that pervades us.
The scientists of Darkside who will tell this story are part of an international collaboration of more than sixty Universities from fifteen countries around the world, researchers who have dedicated much of their professional lives waiting for this goal.

The international feature of “Darkside collaboration” allows us to base the funding and distribution strategy on the potential interest that many of these countries could have in being protagonists of one of the most significant scientific discoveries of our time.
Italy is certainly one of the great protagonists of this adventure, decisive roles in Darkside are also played by other countries such as the USA, Canada, France, Spain, Russia, Romania, Brazil, Switzerland, China, Poland and Greece.

All these countries are at the forefront in “Darkside collaboration” and therefore potentially interested in “public fundraising” to make visible the capital that their governments invest in research.
Just as public fundraising can boast great potential, the distribution basin is clearly much larger than that offered by an audiovisual product with strong local characteristics.

Vis is looking for an international distribution partner with a particular ability to penetrate these countries, able to offer a sufficiently large audience base to guarantee an economic result that justifies the investment of producers while maintaining a relatively low unit cost of rights due to the high number of countries in which the film is distributed.
As an alternative to a single distribution package, it will be necessary to enter into single contracts in as many countries as possible in an attempt to achieve the goal of keeping rights costs low in order to increase the product’s appeal and visibility.
We remind you that the goal of Vis productions is Scientific Outreach and therefore it has to balance the entertainment impact allowing the fundamental scientific concepts to reach as many people as possible, helping knowledge and culture to develop.
